John E. Jenkins, Inc. performed the civil sitework package for Westside Logistics, a 180,000-square-foot logistics center at 980 Cox Road in Gastonia, working for general contractor Reeves Young.

The 17-acre site included roughly 12.5 acres of disturbed area. Jenkins' scope began with erosion-control setup, clearing and grubbing, then moved into a large cut-to-fill grading package with more than 79,000 cubic yards of mass earthwork and fine grading for the building pad, pavement areas, truck circulation and yard areas.

The underground scope brought together sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage infrastructure: 8-inch sewer main with manholes and outside drops, more than 3,000 linear feet of 8-inch water main with hydrants and backflow assemblies, and an RCP storm system feeding a sand-filter conversion. The paving package included heavy-duty asphalt, light-duty asphalt and an emergency/weather access section to support the logistics site's truck-ready operation.
